The language buddies experience was very beneficial for me. I learned many new teaching and classroom management ideas for my own future classroom, but I also learned skills on how to teach a more diverse classroom. The class that I worked with this semester was much more diverse than my hometown and this helped me observe my own culture and privileges in a different way. I realized that having two parents that both are teachers was beneficial to my own education and I could defiantly get a sense that some students were getting more attention at home than others. My favorite experiences were working with students who were quieter and less confident in speaking and seeing them get really excited when they would get answers right, when they would work individually with me. I have never been a quiet kid and I believe most kids with a similar background to mine are also outgoing. I really enjoyed being able to make students of different cultures more comfortable and confident in the classroom. Not only is that a rewarding experience for myself, but I think it will also benefit their education going forward. I really want to keep working in the classroom somehow, because I really enjoy paying it forward.

Today I worked with two individual students, before I helped out within a larger group setting. The students were very excited about the weekend and really enjoyed the Christmas songs that were on the smart board.

Today I helped in a larger group setting. Students were working on math while I was helping. I really thought it was beneficial to myself as a future teacher to work with students in a larger group setting today.

It was good to be back in the classroom. Last week the school was closed on Friday so I couldn't come in. Today there were groups of students that rotated to listen to multiple stories so I was tasked with reading to groups of students.

It was another good day working with North Elementary School students. I am still working individually with students on patterns, rhyming, counting, and writing. The students and my teacher are very fun to work with.

My expectations regarding service-learning have not changed a ton since starting the semester. I have already had experiences with this learning style by participating in Study Buddy’s last year. I really enjoy this style of learning, because no day is the same. That is part of the reason I want to become a teacher. I will feel like I am doing important work and I will be entertained by the challenges and differences in each and every day.
I feel like I am giving a lot to Language Buddies and I also feel like I am receiving a lot in return. I feel like I put a lot of effort into my work at South Elementary. I also feel like I am receiving a lot of experience in return. I am an Elementary Education major so being able to be in a classroom and observe classroom management skills is very beneficial to me. What is even more beneficial is being to work with students one on one and work on my own skills in getting content to stick with students. The best part about this whole experience is that I enjoy working with kids, so it just makes the whole service-based learning portion of this class great.
I am currently working with students who speak primarily English. I have really enjoyed being a part of the St. Peter community. Students are very friendly and make my time at South really fun. I also think it has been good for me to help out at a school that was much more than my own growing up. The classroom I am in now has much more diversity than my graduating class and I feel like working with more diverse students will only help my teaching in the long run. I feel like this is the biggest contrast that I can make with my former schooling, because I do not remember my own kindergarten experience with it being so long ago.

I once again had a really neat experience at South Elementary. I worked with students individually on skills that the teacher assigned them too. These skills included counting, patterns, and rhyming. It was fun to be able to mix up what subjects I was demonstrating.

I had a really neat experience on this impact. I hadn't worked with kindergarteners for awhile, but I really enjoyed my time at South Elementary. I was introduced to the class as Mr.Ethan and then I worked with students individually on counting to 10.

I worked with a variety of students over this Study Buddies block. The majority of students where 5th or 8th grade. They all had goodbye gifts for me and it was very rewarding.
