I went with my little Dinosaur partner around the freshman dorms and got Jaxon some candy! :). It was a super fun experience to see all of the littles with their bigs and the smiles on all of their faces.
On Monday evening Kimberline and I went to River Rock in St. Peter and I worked with her on the homework that she had for her lifeskills class, and we worked to complete some of the worksheets that she needed to have done before class on Monday. I worked with her to identify some of the utensils that we were going to use to make pancakes in English, and we will be continuing to use those words when we do make pancakes on Monday. I learned more about her home life and where she works on the weekend, and we also discussed the opportunity for me to help her learn English on a more comprehensible and communicable level.
Today Jaxon and I made mac 'n' cheese in the dorm kitchen, played ping-pong and pool, and then walked to the caf and ate ice cream. I showed him the hill where we will go sledding in the winter, and he told me about his dog Charlie and 4 older siblings. We had a lot of fun :)
Today I met my little partner and his mom and discussed the plans and days that we wanted to meet every week, and I learned some of Jaxon's favorite things to do and what he wanted to do over the year together. We went to Lund as a group and played basketball with some of his friends, and he colored as well. It was a good opportunity for me to connect with his family as well and learn about what they had for goals for this year with our partnership. I had a lot of fun and am now very excited for what this year will bring!!!
