This week it was good, I had the chance to interact more with the students during the big group presentation, it seems like they are finally getting the good morning song and goodbye song and they now do the hand gestures almost automatic which is really cute to see and also they really picked up the numbers really fast.
That week was a bit rough since I had a group of students that have a hard time trying to keep their focus on the task at hand, and its a challenge because I have to try to constantly be trying to keep them engage and have them be really into the game, but it seemed like the trick was storytime.
Today was the first time, we got to do Language Amigitos and it was so much fun but also very nerve wrecking since it's been almost a whole year since I have been in a classroom with very young kids. My time int he classroom consisted of saying the colors both in English and in Spanish and reading a book to them that had to deal with the colors, and that was probably the highlight of my time in the classroom because it challenged me to keep them focused on the task at hand but also finding a way that everyone can participate and not just listen to me read. The meaning of my service is to help young kids learn to love learning new languages and be able to appreciate the different languages in the world. I think next time we could definitely try to make the powerpoint a bit more interactive because some kids would just stare blankly at the screen.
