Today I went to Mr. Englehorn's classroom at St. Peter High School and conducted oral exams for the level one students. This experience was very rewarding to teach the high schoolers more Spanish and to practice speaking at a different Spanish level, especially one so beginner. I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend the opportunity to anyone!
This week was our final week teaching lessons to the kindergarteners and it was truly remarkable to see their growth from the beginning of the semester until now. To finish up the semester, we reviewed the short, useful phrases with the powerpoint, games, songs, and a book. They seemed to have enjoyed every aspect of the lesson and have a genuine interest in learning more Spanish. Although our time is completed with these kindergarteners, I know that our teaching will assist them in their future years with learning even more Spanish and they will look back on our fun times together.
This week we reviewed the short frases as well as colors and numbers. With the couple weeks we had off, they seemed to be catching on to the phrases quite well and still enjoying the games. From the beginning of the semester, I can see their incredible growth with Spanish and cannot wait for our final lesson next week.
This week, we started a new lesson teaching short, useful phrases to the kindergarteners while combining what they have learned in the past: colors and numbers. This first lesson was a little bit difficult to get their attention from the beginning since their wasn't a song to introduce the new theme but they eventually were really excited about doing the actions with the phrases at the same time. This lesson proves to be more challenging for them with combining all of their knowledge so far but they seem to be enjoying all of their new material as well as the games for this lesson!
This week we finished the last lesson on numbers and the kindergarteners seemed to remember a lot considering we had quite a bit of time off within the past month. Also, they are excited about the next week's lesson and have a genuine interest in learning Spanish. I look forward to contributing to their learning even more next week as we start new material.
This week we continued teaching the kindergarteners numbers for the second week and they seemed to be catching up on the material pretty quickly! Some of them had background knowledge of the numbers prior to the lesson and these kids tended to push the others without the knowledge to want to be better. The lesson started off a little slow since we had a two week break but they seemed to catch on once we started playing the songs. All in all, this week was a good test of their knowledge and they are intrigued to keep learning as they keep asking what we are learning next!
This week we introduced numbers to the kindergarteners and they loved it! A lot of them already have some background info on numbers and know them pretty well which is nice to see.
We worked with the kindergarteners today on colors for the last time and they have learned so much! Their growth and excitement about Spanish is astonishing, and they are already looking forward to the new lesson next week!
The kindergarteners seem to be catching on to los colores very well! They also seem to be having fun and getting along with their classmates. Another fun day in the classroom.
We taught the kindergarteners los colores with some class activities, books, and take home activities. Also, we gave them a letter to give to their parents describing what we are doing during our time. My favorite part of today was when I told the kids what friend was in Spanish and then they all gave me a hug saying I was their amigo. I am looking forward to the rest of the semester!
