Trick or Treating event! He dressed up as a train conductor and I a doctor.
Played with the toy cars in the dive. We also played monopoly.
Today was my birthday and it was full of fun surprises. One of them being that my little and his brother gave me pictures for my birthday and Chelsey brought surprise cupcakes that we ate in the caf. Then, we went to an SEA fall party where we made leaf rubbings, door decs, and ate caramel apple treats. All in all, it was a good day.
First get together of the year!
Today, I helped students work on their fluency by having them read a sheet that had silly words on it. We took a mini break to listen to some of the students show and tell which was fun to see them excited about the different toys. I then helped the kindergarteners work on their sentences for their umbrella book. I always learn something new when I help in the classroom whether it's how to handle a behavioral issue or helping students sound out their words. The classroom experience will definitely help me as a future teacher.
Today was Earth Day and there was a really fun event called Discover the Outdoors that included 15 Gustavus orgs in the Linnaeus Arboretum. I work in the Arb so I was at the event the whole day but I was able to be with my little partner and his family for a little bit of the day. It was fun to walk around to all the booths and play fun nature activities. I think the boys really enjoyed the pond discovery, which let the kids find little creatures in the pond. They were able to get wet and have fun! They also had lots of treats during the event such as the solar baked s'mores. All in all, it was a beautiful day and a very fun event.
This Friday, my partner and I went to the Dive and played a full game of the junior Monopoly, which I was impressed with how much my little partner has been learning over the year. After the game we went to the courtyard caf to draw some tornados and earthquakes. It was a pretty chill Friday and we are excited for the warm weather next week.
Today, my partner was a good sport for the first part of our hour because we had to run an errand. I took him with me to Beck to drop off a paper. We trucked it all the way to Beck, printed my paper, climbed all the way to the third floor, and all the while talked about how big Beck was and how high up we were. It was very fun to see him see more of the Gustavus campus. After our errand, we picked up the materials for the pool table and air hockey table in the Dive. We played "pool" or as I like to call it "put all the balls into the holes and watch them drop down game." Then we played a little air hockey to finish our time off.
Today in Mrs. Sizer's classroom we talked about eggs. The students had to write and draw two facts about eggs. I worked with some kids who read a little booklet to me. It was called "Ben and Jen." Then I helped Mrs. Sizer by helping students finish their worksheet. Afterwards, it was fun to watch the students do daily 5 which lets them work on a different type of reading and writing activity. Some students were on iPads while others used stamps and had to fill in the missing letter. It is always fun to help the students with big or small activities.
