Today I had the opportunity to help Ms. Depuydt in a different way. I had the opportunity to engage with all the students during my two and a half hours there. Ms. Depuydt gave me the opportunity to lead small craft stations and help students catch up with all their Christmas crafts. I enjoyed the small one on one time with the students. Towards the end of my time there, Ms. Depuydt wanted me to work with a student who was behind in his classwork. I was able to help him get all caught up and he was allowed to join the class in games afterwards. I enjoyed volunteering in Ms. Depuydt's kindergarten class this semester and am absolutely thrilled that I was asked to help again next semester!
Today in Ms. Depuydt's class, the students she had me work with worked on reading skills. The book that most of the students chose to read was Frog on a Log. They enjoyed telling me which words rhymed and what other words rhymed with them. For the other half of our time we worked on counting "bones" for a dog depending on what number they rolled on on a dice. It was a fun and productive day!
Today I recieved a new friend to work with! He was super eager to work with me and even volunteered to go first! During snack time I was able to work with a small group. We played a game that involved firguirng out what letter different words started with. It was nice to see them work together in teams and bounce ideas off eachother since their so young!
Today in class, the students I worked with recieved some new books and activities! It was fun seeing them learn new games and trying to read new books! One of the things I see students struggle with when racticing he alphebete is the letter sounds between, M/N and J/G. We addressed that struggle by continuing to practice.
Today, I worked with students on counting numbers and reading short stories. It's great to see how much they progress as the weeks fly by! I also learned that students learn differently and are still trying to figure out their learning style. One of the challenges I encountered today was distractions when working outside the classroom. Overall, it was a productive time and the students benefited from reading.
Worked on BPLP and CADA stuff!
Weekly meeting! Discussed the Halloween event and sorted a bunch of candy!
Productive weekly meeting!
