In the immortal words of the great poet, Dr. Seuss, "It is better to know how to learn than to know." I sympathize a lot with this quote for it presents the truth of our society today. As I go through quotidian life, I find myself with numerous students that question the integrity of the education system. Is education worth one's time? Does education make us better people? Is education necessary for a life filled with purpose? Although I can not answer all these questions, I know one thing for certain: Education is the art of understanding, and learning to appreciate, life for what life truly represents. Education goes further than knowledge and into the intangible. Everyone is capable of knowing things, but the true virtue of life comes from understanding why we learn and thus helps live everyday life to the fullest. As long as the education system stays running, everyone is given the opportunity to pave their own future.
“You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them" Ray Bradbury basically sums up my tutoring experience. Such a profound thought!
