About

826LA in Echo Park, Mar Vista and Manual Arts High School are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, professional, self-motivated, team players, and who've got a strong sense of social justice and passion for education and our mission. We're one of seven non-profit chapters across the country dedicated to helping students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills because we understand written communication is a key to future success. We help students improve by making writing accessible and fun through our four main programs: tutoring, bookmaking field trips, in-school writing support and projects, and volunteer-created writing workshops -- all of which are completely free to families and teachers. Read more at 826la.org. OVERVIEW: The 826LA unpaid internship is designed to expose interns to the wide range of work at a social justice, education non-profit -- including networking and mentorship opportunities -- while allowing for a personalized degree of specialization. Interns support the day-to-day administrative functions of our organization as well as medium- and long-term capacity-building projects. Specialized tracks include: programming track, volunteer outreach and support track, design track, and Manual Arts High School track. These tracks do not represent the entire spectrum of possible experiences at 826LA, but do form the main core of intern duties. Read more about the tracks at 826la.org/internships. Interns may have the option of extending their term following a review. Office hours are Monday through Friday, roughly 9am to 6pm, but many programs and events take place evenings and weekends.
