OHSU Unpaid Volunteer Position – Intercultural Psychiatric Program

About

Intercultural Psychiatric Program seeks an unpaid, student intern with organizational skills and an interest in immigrant mental and/or healthcare.

 

About us:

The Intercultural Psychiatric Program (IPP) provides culturally specific mental health services for immigrant, refugee and ethnic communities with an emphasis on individuals and families whose first language is not English.

 

IPP is one of the longest-standing cross-cultural psychiatry programs for refugees in the country and has been honored by the American College of Psychiatrists and the American Psychiatric Association.

 

Duties:

§  Weekly meeting with director

§  Organizing documents

§  Assisting with project planning

§  Assist with customer satisfaction survey reporting

§  Assist with collecting professional literature from search engines

 

Successful applicants will be:

§  Interested in people and healthcare

§  Organized, self-starting, able to complete tasks independently

§  Able to function effectively in a business environment

§  Eager to learn

§  Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

§  Proficient in writing

 

Successful interns will gain:

§  Professional guidance and mentorship from mental health professionals

§  Experience in multi-lingual/multi-cultural environments

§  Education on intercultural communication

§  Resume review

§  Experience working on a federal grant

 

Eligibility:

§  Junior or Senior in college, or Graduate Student

§  GPA of 3.0 or better

§  Proficient at Microsoft Office software

§  Must have weekday morning or afternoon availability

§  Experience or interest in working in intercultural environments

 

Commitment Requirements:

§  4 hours, one day per week, until June 2021 with the potential to renew internship if interested.
