HIV+ Severe Weather Shelter

Open Opportunity

About

Hello!

I’m excited to share some details about a new HIV+ Severe Weather Shelter that will open this winter in the HIV Day Center Space at 2941 NE Ainsworth! It will be open when temperatures dip below 25 degrees or there is snow or ice, as decided by Multnomah County. The shelter will be open to 15 guests and referrals will be open to the HIV Day Center, Cascade AIDS Project, Multnomah County Health Clinic, and Partnerships Project.

In the meantime, we are in need of volunteers, preferably people who have experience working with folks who are homeless. They would need the have the capability to travel to 2941 NE Ainsworth during severe weather. There will be afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts available and it would be perfect for a student who is looking for community service hours! If you or anyone you know is interested, please provide feel free to reach out for more information. The head of contact for the shelter, as of now is Lynne Smouse López at pastor@ainsworthucc.com for details!
