FAMILY MEMBERS AND CHILDREN WELCOME!
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL FOR 2019:
Gwynns Falls Elementary School is a non-profit, inner city, Title I school serving a predominately African-American population of scholars in Baltimore. With approximately 325 scholars, Gwynns Falls is an Arts Every Day school, integrating arts into all areas of their curriculum (visual arts, theater, music, and dance). Their mission is to produce scholars who will be socially, emotionally, and most of all academically prepared to enter the 21st Century global workforce. For many, Gwynns Falls is the center of their life – not just their school, but also the gathering place for Cub Scouts, church socials, community performances, or special events. To reflect this, teachers and administrators regularly perform community walks after school so they can interact with their students and families away from the confines of their "oasis of opportunity and exposure."
Like many schools throughout Baltimore, Gwynns Falls Elementary is dealing with budget shortfalls, an aging infrastructure and outdated facilities for its scholars. After years of constant leadership turnover, Principal Nikomar Mosely is eager to make an impact within his school community.
OUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT:
If you participated in the Global Days of Service project for Bay Brook Elementary/Middle School in 2017, or the Beechfield Elementary/Middle School project in 2018, you know this will be a truly special day filled with our Here for Good spirit! Families and children of staff are welcome to participate.
